Boston Dynamics has named Rohit Prasad as its new CEO, nearly nine months after Robert Playter stepped down. Prasad previously served as senior vice president and head scientist for Alexa and artificial general intelligence at Amazon. He takes over from CFO Amanda McMaster, who served as interim CEO.
The company says the hire speeds up its physical AI strategy by combining its robotics expertise with advanced AI to commercialize machines at scale.
Why it matters: picking an AI leader rather than a robotics veteran tells you where Boston Dynamics thinks the competition with Tesla, Figure and the Chinese makers will be decided.
