Teradyne Robotics, the parent of Universal Robots, and China's Elite Robots have settled their legal dispute over collaborative robots and software. Teradyne had claimed Elite's cobots and software were similar to its own. The terms were not disclosed.
Teradyne announced the settlement on October 1, saying both sides wanted to avoid the cost and time of continued litigation. Universal Robots has sold more than 100,000 cobots since 2005.
Why it matters: intellectual property fights between Western and Chinese robot makers are heating up. This one ends quietly, but more are likely as Chinese arms gain share.
