Doug Field, who led EV work at Ford, oversaw the Tesla Model 3 and worked on Apple's car project, is the new president of Mind Robotics. The industrial AI and robotics venture was created last year by Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe and is backed by Rivian.
The hire was announced onstage at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026. Field will run product, engineering and operations day to day, while Scaringe stays involved.
Why it matters: bringing in one of the most experienced vehicle program leaders suggests Mind Robotics is getting ready to scale just a year after its founding.
